Isobe-no Omita
This festival is one of Japan’s three major rice planting festivals, which takes place in “Izawanomiya”, the annex of the Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu. Wearing magnificent old-fashioned robes, they transplant rice in time with ancient music, then bamboo pulling and dancing-in are performed by youths, expanding the festival to fever pitch.
