Dengaku-Nohmai, a Noh dance ritual, is said to have started around 700 years ago when Hojo Tokiyori, a Shogun’s regent, visited Mizuumi village in Ikeda Town. The local people performed dengaku (rice-planting) dances to entertain Tokiyori, and he taught them how to perform Noh dances in return.
