Kaeru Odori

“Kaeru Odori,” a ritual dance, is a simple dance performed at the Sumiyoshi Shrine in Sasayama City. Eight dancers hold Japanese tight drums and Sasara, a set of two types of sticks to sound a Japanese percussion instrument, in blue colored “Suo,” with crane and turtle patterns painted in white while dancing. Suo was formal clothes for warriors in the Edo period.
