Awa Ningyo-joruri puppet play in Nosonbutai theater

s-北川舞台(伊澤さん)

The performance record written by a puppet play troupe from Awaji island, southwest of Kobe, in the late Edo era (around 1800 A.D.) is found on the back of the stage. The stage of 11 meters width and 4.5 meters depth is equipped with the puppet play’s traditional system of Tayuza and two Bucho. Bucho is a wooden lattice curtain which opens up vertically and Tayuza is the upper stage.
